The MWS-45RF is an FM-CW Milliwave Range Finder which consists of an antenna and controller. The controller can be separated from the high temperature zone by using a reflector and guidepipe.
The heat resistant reflector is installed in the high temperature zone, while the controller is installed in the normal temperature area, allowing the controller to make accurate measurements in high temperature areas without requiring special cooling.

Suitable for measuring the stockline profile in blast furnaces or measuring surfaces which are rapidly fluctuating.
If necessary, the reflector, which is the sensing head, can be installed in the high temperature zone without the need of additional cooling devices.
Furthermore, if necessary, a circular waveguide can be used to distance the controller from the antenna located in the high temperature area.
Milliwaves are unaffected by heat, flames, dust or vapor.
The 45 GHz model uses a smaller antenna, creating a sharper beam angle. This makes the Milli-Ranger ideal for installations where space is limited.
Previously difficult measurements with large rest angles are now possible with milliwaves, therefore the Milli-Ranger is suitable for measuring sloped surfaces of anything from powder to lumps of material.

False measurements caused by double-reflected waves are eliminated through the use of rotary microwaves.
The accuracy of the measured range is not affected by fluctuating temperatures, nor does it deteriorate over extended periods.
The software utilizes filters which eliminate spurious signals.
It displays the FFT spectrum, the received signal and various preset values.
The received signal, FFT spectrum and the measurement data are continuously displayed. This displayed data can be recorded and reviewed in real or accelerated time.
Use of the recording and reviewing function allows the system parameters to be optimized offline.
The display indicates, and the controller outputs, the internal temperature and any abnormal conditions (i.e. a lowering of received signal power, rising temperature in the controller, software version mismatch and communication failures).
A reference point and the required range are easily preset. The length of the guidepipe and waveguide, if used, can easily be removed from the overall distance measured.
